drink4A chilled glass of homemade lemonade is bliss on a hot day. If you have loads of lemons to use up this is the drink for you!

1 ½ cups sugar

900 ml water

1 cup lemon juice

1 t citric acid

1 t tartaric acid



  1. Put sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to the boil when sugar has dissolved.
  2. Take off the heat and add the lemon juice and acids.
  3. Pour into sterilised bottles and store in the fridge.
  4. To serve pour the lemonade into glasses until ½ full, add ice, top with water and serve garnished with a slice of lemon.
